Artist Statement
As an artist, my work reflects themes of memory and loss. Focusing on revisiting places of personal significance, exploring spaces I used to live in, abandoned structures, and objects curated through life and elevated to symbols of remembrance, photography has become a lens through which I make sense of my life, my family, and my place in the world.
As a therapist, I believe strongly in the power of telling our stories, and am forever fascinated by the images & things we curate to help define our identities.
Spaces I Called My Own, 2016-Present
The series below explores areas of significance to my childhood, revisiting spaces of my childhood in Thunder Bay, ON, and Saskatoon, SK. An ongoing series, the images echo with the voices of a tangible past that cannot be relived, only revisited, through the eyes and knowledge of adulthood. Shown with very few people, these silent spaces are heavy with the spirit of what was, and never shall be again. An ongoing series. 2016-present.
